Driving acceptance in Ukraine with Cybersource

Challenge

The Ministry of Digital Transformation (MIDT) of Ukraine sought to digitise all national and sub-national level payments to government (fines, taxes and government service fees).

Our involvement

In 2019, Visa and MIDT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to streamline cooperation in implementing the best digital payments technological solutions for the state. The new model for Ukraine’s e-Government platform now includes three parties: Diia, its payment service provider (PSP) and sponsoring Visa acquirer, which is connected to the Cybersource. 

Outcome

Currently, all card-based payments above 500 UAH (18 USD), which represent over 50% of Diia transactions, are processed with Cybersource through a direct connection with VisaNet.

Visa and MIDT have also aligned to promote the “Diia+CYBS” bundle solution to the governments in other markets.
